After their narrow 1-0 defeat to Abia Warriors in Umuahia midweek, Niger Tornadoes Coach Abubakar Bala commended his players but attributed their loss to careless play in front of goal.

On the back of their successive defeats and the sacking of Coach Okey Emordi, Abia Warriors were in dire need of a redeeming win and left little doubt that they would carry the day, coming close to scoring ass early as in the second minute but Sunday Adetunji could not connect a cross from Ndifreke Effiong.

Godwin Zaki troubled the Niger Tornadoes backline and his push forward led to an infringement inside the box on the 15th minute which he rose to take but saw his effort parried by Mustapha Alinco to the on-rushing Anthony Okemiri who buried the ball for the lone goal of the fixture.

"The boys were okay on the night but we lost the game when we failed to utilize our chances up front”, lamented Bala post match.

He however pointed to a take home from the encounter and noted that we have now known our mistakes and will have to correct it against Nasarawa United in our next game".

Bala also assessed the Abia Warriors side and awarded them good marks, predicting that the side would achieve success if they keep playing the way they did against his wards.

‘Biffo's team is good, in fact they are great players because they broke every of our move and if they continue this way they will be a force in this season’s league notwithstanding the fact that they have lost some crucial matches".

Abdullahi Biffo was moved to the head coach position after Emordi was sacked following a home defeat to El-Kanemi Warriors and he insists the team is still in the mould.

“We are still trying to get ourselves together after losing some very important matches, most especially the one against El-Kanemi here”,Biffo told

“We will however continue to push ourselves until we come back to winning ways just as we did against current champions Enugu Rangers in Enugu on the first day of the season", the Coach promised Abia Warriors fans

It was Abia Warriors second win after eight defeats that includes a three match losing streak that began on Mattch Day 8 against El-Kanemi Warriors.
