Three weeks of football across four five cities in the country and involving over 400 under 15 years teenagers from the 20 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs was concluded at the Agege Stadium, Saturday morning with a dominant second half performance that saw the Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Football Club overcome hard fighting Katsina United.

ABS FC and Katsina United made it to the final of the maiden Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Under-15 Promises tournament after emerging tops in their respective groups in the second stage.
Ilorin club ABS played in a group comprising Rangers International, El-Kanemi Warriors and Rivers United while Katsina United, FC Ifeanyiubah, Niger Tornadoes and Shooting Stars made up the second group.

The NPFL Clubs Under-15 tournament which got underway last Monday has so far lived up to its billing of helping to chart a new developmental cause for football in Nigeria.
In what is an unprecedented move in the history of the round leather game in Nigeria, players not more than age 15 selected by the twenty top flight clubs are given the opportunity of competing under the same facility that the established league professionals strut their stuffs week in, week out in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Rivers United finished top of Group A of the NPFL Under 15 Promises tournament after a last gasp goal by Adolphus Ibinabo secured a 1-1 draw with FC Ifeanyiubah on Friday.
The Government Secondary School, Borokiri student scored with virtually the last kick of the ball at the Owerri centre of the NPFL Under-15 Promises tournament to rescue a table-topping point for United.
With United firmly in control of the group having won their first three group games, FC Ifeanyiubah who also had the same record as United but inferior goals difference seized the moment on the half hour mark.

ABS FC fended off a strong challenge from Remo Stars to clinch the remaining quarter-final ticket from Group C of the NPFL U-15 Promises tournament in Osogbo, edging the Sagamu side 1-0.
Shooting Stars were already into the quarter-finals before their last group match against Sunshine Stars but the junior Oluyole Warriors pipped their Akure rivals 1-0 to round off the stage as leaders.
ABS and Remo Stars came into the game on the final day as pitching for the second qualification ticket after Shooting Stars qualified for the next round on Thursday. The Saraki Boys needed just a point to progress while Remo Stars must win to progress.
